FaHCSIA Funding

FaHCSIA (Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs) is a federal government funding initiative for children who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Pervasive Developmental Delay (PDD). The scheme provides funding for children aged between 0-6 years to access approved early intervention services. Each eligible child is able to access up to $6000 per financial year, up to a total of $12000.

Who can access this funding?

A child between 0-6 years who has a definitive statement of diagnosis of ASD or PDD from a Paediatrician, Psychiatrist or a Multi-disciplinary team can receive FaHCSIA funding up until the age of 7 years (provided the family has been eligible for the funding by the child’s sixth birthday).

How do I access this funding?

Autism Victoria has been given the responsibility of implementing FaHCSIA funding in Victoria. Further information can be accessed through the Autism Victoria website http://www.autismvictoria.org.au/helping_children/fahcsia_funding.php or the Department of Health and Aging, Helping Children with Autism website http://www.fahcsia.gov.au/sa/disability/progserv/people/HelpingChildrenWithAutism/Pages/default.aspx

Can I use my FaHCSIA funding at Kids Connect Therapy?

Yes – Kids Connect Therapy is a registered Early Intervention Service Provider. All services at Kids Connect Therapy can be paid for using your FaHCSIA funding. Please note, once your $6000 annual limit is reached, you will need to start paying for therapy services as usual.
